RIMOUSKI-MITIS NAUTICAL STATION

With some 80 kilometres of shoreline, remote islands, majestic cliffs and quiet beaches, the Rimouski-Mitis Nautical Station is a region for nature lovers of all age. There, people are always ready to share and communicate their love of the sea, and with good reason. There is no lack of pathways and trails to lead you along the shores of the Bas-Saint-Laurent with its wonderful fauna and flora. The maritime environment is a joy to behold for all boaters and anyone interested in all things nautical.

This very first Nautical Station in Quebec was created on March 12, 2008. It is located in the tourism regions of the Bas-Saint-Laurent and the Gaspésie from St-Fabien to Métis-sur-Mer. The name of this Nautical Station comes from the two Municipalités Régionales de Comté (MRC) located in the Sation’s territory. Those are Rimouski-Neigette and La Mitis and they are also the names of two rivers crossing the territory.

Under Honorary Chairman George Leblanc, a world class offshore racing skipper, the annual events program is sure to attract many. Everyone is invited to visit the venues and numerous activities offered by the Rimouski-Mitis Nautical Station.

Although still young, this Nautical Station can count a number of key players – both private and public - from the area’s boating industry. They are a dynamic presence in various fields of activity such as sailing schools, sailboat charters, kayak rentals, marinas, excursions at sea, skin diving, camping, trails, excursions at the Saint-Barnabé island, seafood fares, maritime history and museums, etc.

The Parc du Bic, the Pointe-au-Père Historical and Maritime site, the Sainte-Luce beach path, the quaint little village of Sainte-Flavie and the Jardins de Métis are all must see must stop places for all land or sea travelers. Boaters for their part will find great facilities at Marina du Bic and the Marina de Rimouski-Est.
